The Bulls Open the East 12 Games Short, With Six of Eight Against the Favorites Next
The Chicago Bulls Eastern Conference odds for 2027 rest on how far the club finished from the postseason a season ago: 31-51, 12th of the 15 Eastern clubs, and the market treats the Bulls as a team that has to get into the playoff field before its chances of winning the conference can mean much. They play their home games at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, so this is the state's one NBA conference question for 2026-27. The live board above carries all 15 Eastern clubs' prices from Kalshi and Polymarket.
What the Bulls Eastern Conference Price Is Saying
On October 23, 2026, Polymarket had the Bulls at 0.6% to win the Eastern Conference and Kalshi had them at 1%. Polymarket's figure put Chicago 13th of the 15 clubs on the board, above only the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets at 0.5% each on the same venue, and just below the Charlotte Hornets at 1% on Polymarket. A price that low says the market does not see a playoff team when it looks at Chicago, and a club outside the playoff field cannot win the East at all.
What the price is saying is that the Bulls' conference question is a playoff question first. The market treats Chicago as a club that must find 12 more wins than it managed last season just to reach the place Miami held at the bottom of the postseason picture, and only then start winning series. Until the standings show that climb under way, the conference contract has little to price beyond the first step.
The top of the board explains how much room the rest of the East leaves. Polymarket had the Philadelphia 76ers at 21% on October 23, 2026, the New York Knicks at 16% and the Boston Celtics at 13%. The Miami Heat were at 10% on Polymarket, and Kalshi had the Indiana Pacers, the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7% each. No Eastern club was priced above about one chance in five, which means the market sees an open conference at the top. For Chicago that is the hopeful part of the board, because an East without a dominant club is easier to climb than one with a heavy favorite, but the price says the opening is wide for the middle of the table and narrow for the bottom.
The board also shows the market is not simply copying last season's table. Detroit won the East's regular season at 60-22 and was priced at 7% on Kalshi on October 23, 2026, while Philadelphia, seventh at 45-37, led the board at 21% on Polymarket. Whatever the market sees in the 76ers, it is something the 2025-26 standings alone do not show, and the same willingness to look past a record has not yet reached the Bulls.
Where the Bulls Finished in the East in 2025-26
ESPN's final standings for 2025-26 show the Bulls at 31-51 and marked as eliminated, 29 games behind first-place Detroit. The Heat finished 10th at 43-39, the lowest Eastern club those standings did not mark as eliminated, so Chicago missed that line by 12 games. Milwaukee, at 32-50, was the only club between the Heat's line and the Bulls; Brooklyn at 20-62, Indiana at 19-63 and Washington at 17-65 finished below.
The shape of the East matters for a conference contract in a way it does not for a league title. Ten Eastern clubs finished at or above 43 wins, and the top four, Detroit, Boston, New York and Cleveland, each won at least 52. For the Bulls to reach the postseason they would have to pass several of those clubs, not just the two or three that finished closest to them, and that is the distance the price is measuring.
Reaching the postseason is only the first half of the distance. A club that gets in still has to get past the conference's best teams to win it, and in 2025-26 the East's top four won between 52 and 60 games each; that is the second half of the path the market is pricing near zero for Chicago.
The Bulls' Opening Stretch Against the East's Favorites
The season began on October 21, 2026 with a 135-92 loss to the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, a 43-point margin against a club that finished fifth in the East at 46-36. That one result does not move a contract that runs all season by much, but it is the opposite of the start the counterread needs.
What makes the next three weeks a real test is the schedule. Every game through November 8 is against an Eastern club, and six of the next eight are against the three clubs the market prices highest in the conference:
• October 23: at the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum, the club that finished one game ahead of Chicago and sits just below the Bulls on Polymarket's board.
• October 24: the home opener at the United Center, against the Washington Wizards, last in the East at 17-65.
• October 26 and October 30: two games at the Boston Celtics, second in the East last season and third on Polymarket's board on October 23, 2026.
• October 28 and November 4: the New York Knicks at the United Center, then at Madison Square Garden; the Knicks finished third and were second on the board.
• November 2 and November 8: at the Philadelphia 76ers, then the 76ers at the United Center; Philadelphia led the board on October 23, 2026.
ESPN's roster for 2026-27 lists Tiago Splitter as head coach, with Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis, Norman Powell, Buddy Hield and Patrick Williams among the players, and lists center Nic Claxton as out as of October 23, 2026. A roster without Claxton against Boston, New York and Philadelphia is a hard way to make the case that last season's 12-game gap has closed.
The Case Against the Bulls Eastern Conference Read
The strongest case against the read is that the market already forgives a bad season for some Eastern clubs, and has simply not chosen to do so for Chicago. Indiana finished 19-63, 12 games worse than the Bulls, and Kalshi had the Pacers at 7% on October 23, 2026, the best price for Indiana, against Polymarket's 0.6% for Chicago. A reader who holds the counterread argues the board is pricing reputations and returning players as much as last season's results, and that a Bulls roster with a new head coach is being judged on a team that no longer exists.
There is a second argument in the bottom half of the conference. Three Eastern clubs won 20 games or fewer in 2025-26, so the climb toward 10th place runs past fewer good teams than a 12-game gap suggests, and a single hot month in a conference where Philadelphia leads the board at about one chance in five can change a club's standing quickly. The counterpoint is the opener: a 43-point loss to a fifth-place club is not evidence that the gap has narrowed, and the next eight games are against better teams than Toronto.
What Changes the Bulls Eastern Conference Read
The read is wrong if the Bulls are inside the East's top ten by midwinter, because a club in the postseason picture is priced on its chances to win series rather than on its chances to reach them.
• October 23 to November 8: eight games, six of them against Boston, New York and Philadelphia; a .500 record through this stretch would be the first evidence the price is too low.
• The 43-win line: Miami's 43-39 held 10th place in 2025-26, and the Bulls' pace against that number is what both venues will follow through the winter.
• Nic Claxton's return: ESPN listed the center as out on October 23, 2026; his status shapes how the Bulls hold up against the conference's bigger front lines.
• Midseason trades: a deal that adds or sells a starter is the event most likely to move a long-dated contract priced this low.
• April 11, 2027: the regular-season finale at the New Orleans Pelicans, which settles whether Chicago reaches the postseason at all; elimination settles the Polymarket contract No.
When the Bulls Eastern Conference Market Resolves
The market resolves on the winner of the 2027 Eastern Conference Finals. Kalshi's Pro Basketball Eastern Conference Champion event for 2026-27 pays Yes on its Chicago contract if Chicago wins the Pro Basketball Eastern Conference Finals in the 2026-27 season, with an expected expiration of June 30, 2027. Polymarket's NBA: 2027 Eastern Conference Champion market resolves on the team that wins the Eastern Conference Finals of the 2027 NBA Playoffs, settles a club's contract No as soon as that club can no longer win, and resolves to Other if the season is canceled, postponed past 11:59 p.m. Eastern on June 30, 2027, or ends without a winner by then. Its primary source is official NBA information, with a consensus of credible reporting also allowed.
